As a Eucharist-centered movement within the Roman Catholic Church, Life Teen leads teenagers and their families into a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ and His Church. With the Blessed Virgin Mary as our intercessor and guide, Life Teen seeks to unleash the fullness of the Sacramental power present within the young Church.
Our Life teen theme for this year is FIAT. We will be focusing on saying "yes" to God in our daily lives and trusting in His will.
Bl. Pier Giorgio Frassati was born to a rich family in Turin Italy in 1901.His Father was a pagan and His Mother, a lukewarm Catholic. From a young age he had a joy and zeal for life, and had a deep love for the Eucharist. When he was a teen he began to visit the poor in his community in secret, giving them all of his allowance and clothes. He would often give someone his train ticket home from school who needed it, and he himself would run all the way home.
Frassati was also an outdoors man. He loved sports like skiing and hiking the huge mountains of Italy with his friends. He would often take his friends on hikes where he would lead them in praying the rosary and singing hymns. He used the things he loved to evangelize to his friends. He would go to bars and play pool with his friends, betting them that if they win he would give them money, but if he won, they had to go to daily Mass with him. He never once lost a game.
In 1925 when Frassati was 24 years old, he contracted polio from one of the poor he visited, and died. At his funeral, his parents where shocked at the thousands of people who showed up, all who have been touched by their son. Pier Giorgio is an inspiration to us, that you do not need to wait to be holy!
