The second-grade preparation program is made up of families with children in second grade who are preparing to receive the Sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Communion. This program has a similar format to Family Faith Formation; however, the educational component focuses more intently on the sacraments. Meetings for second-graders occur at the same time and in conjunction with Family Faith Formation meetings making scheduling for multiple children easy. Participation in the Second Grade Program is measured by the following standards:

Completing 2 Catholic practice activities per month (such as going to Mass or Adoration).
Completing 2 Catholic culture activities per month (such as family discussions, prayer, and reading about the saints).
Completing 3 educational lessons per month from the book Renewed (during the first half of the year) and Received (during the second half of the year).

Families have the opportunity to meet two of the educational requirements at twice-monthly, in-person meetings. Attendance at these meetings also allows for fellowship and community building.
