Family Faith Formation

Family Faith Formation encompasses families with children in Grades PK-1 and 3-6. This program is designed for families to experience faith formation together. Parents have the opportunity to directly impact the spiritual formation of their children while learning about the Faith and growing in their relationships with Jesus.

Our program is based on three pillars: Catholic practice, culture, and education. When all three are put into practice, they work together to help individuals live an authentically Catholic life. Participation in the Family Faith Formation program is measured by the following standards:

Completing 2 Catholic practice activities per month (such as going to Mass or Adoration).
Completing 2 Catholic culture activities per month (such as family discussions, prayer, and reading about the saints).
Completing 3 Catholic education activities per month (from the book A Family of Faith).

Families have the opportunity to meet two of the educational requirements at twice-monthly, in-person meetings. Attendance at these meetings also allows for fellowship and community building.

Lancaster Catholic High School | 650 Juliette Avenue | Lancaster, PA 17601-4387

Over seventy years ago, Lancaster Catholic High School, your parish high school, was founded for the purpose of providing a superior education rooted in the values and teachings of Jesus Christ and in keeping with the traditions of the Catholic Church. This is the mission to which we still adhere. We offer a Christ-centered environment in which our students are challenged both spiritually and academically. We are accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools and the Pennsylvania State Department of Education.

LCHS has a progressive academic curriculum that includes 15 AP classes, opportunities for small class environments, distance learning, Scholars Certificate, STEM Certificate, Fine & Performing Arts Certificate and a Corporate Mentor Program. Also, fully recognizing the importance of responsible use of technology by our students, we are proud to be a "BYOT" (Bring Your Own Technology) school.

Key to the environment at Lancaster Catholic is our system of restorative justice. This approach to student discipline fosters a safe environment where our students understand how their actions impact others and how to repair harm they may do to another. Our Campus Ministry offers over 15 spiritual retreats each year, including 4 KAIROS retreats. Our Parent/Teacher Organization, Fine and Performing Arts, and Athletic Associations encourage active involvement by parents and students alike. We provide over $1.3M in tuition scholarships each year to enable our families to provide an academically rigorous, spiritually uplifting, and authentically Catholic education for their children. Tuition costs are calculated on a Fair Share basis in order to meet the educational costs per student.

Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA)

The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults is the special process of discernment and preparation for reception into the Catholic Church. OCIA is the normal way in which adults become full, active, and participating members of the Catholic Church and it includes prayer, reflection, and study of the Catholic faith, its practices, and teachings. Throughout the process, participants will have opportunities to explore how God is acting in their lives and inviting them into an even deeper and more powerful relationship with Him.

The OCIA program is open to all adults who have a sincere desire to explore the Catholic faith. This includes: persons who have never been baptized in the Christian faith and seek to join the community of believers (catechumen).

Those persons who have been baptized in another Christian community but are now seeking to enter into full communion in the Catholic Church (candidate), Catholic adults who were baptized in the Catholic faith, but have never been fully initiated in the sacraments of Confirmation and Holy Eucharist (candidate).

Others who participate in the OCIA process are sponsors for the catechumens and candidates. The sponsors play a very important role in offering support and encouragement through their prayer and example.
